Deja Vu

Deja Vu ....    Does some of the text on this web site look familiar? Got that feeling of Deja Vu creeping over you? Apparently some of my peers (2 in less than 30 days) have decided to flatter me by copying my home page and presenting it to others as their own work. There is a word for that, plagiarism.

pla-gia-rism 1. the act of plagiarizing 2. an idea, plot, etc. that has been plagiarized

pla-gia-rize to take (ideas, writings, etc.) from (another) and pass them off as one's own
Source: Websters New World Dictionary, fourth edition

One person in Kentucky copied it exactly word for word, basically he just changed the name and where he lived. Which was really dumb because I mention that one of the ways that I stay current with technologies was by being on subscription. So at that time I was using full AutoCAD version 2007. He had the same thing in his text, he was on subscription too but he was currently using version 2005 not 2007. So maybe he should have read my home page through again while he was reusing it. Another person in Virginia has done a much better job of rewriting the content by mixing in part of my works page, but if you follow the order of the presentation you will find it to be a watered down rewrite of my stuff. Don't be surprised if you see some of my project samples show up elsewhere as well!

My response ....   I have registered my website for archiving and copyright protection. I can not assume that others will respect my work and create their own.
I have to tell them that my content is not available to be copied and reused. Hence the "DO NOT COPY" banners on all my web pages.

The person in Kentucky apologized and removed it quickly. The person in Virginia initial response was ..."Hey Chip, go **** yourself! You don't own words!" Three weeks later his tone was ..."I believe you and I got off on the wrong foot. I've spent the last few weeks addressing all of your issues".

Warning to potential content borrowers ....   I do periodic searches, if I find that you have posted plagiarized content anywhere; you will be contacted to remove it, and I will not be very nice about it.
