The American Legion, Department of North Carolina announced that Hayesville, NC resident Chip Harper is this year’s recipient of the "Cubmaster of the Year" award.
Chip Harper took over as Cubmaster of Pack 407 in December 2010.
Since taking over as Cubmaster, Pack 407 has earned the National Summertime Award and the Journey to Excellence Gold Level awards from the BSA.
The National Summertime Award is presented to units that provide a quality summer program to their members.
The Journey to Excellence program rates all BSA units on their overall annual performance as unqualified, Bronze, Silver or Gold Levels.
Pack 407 was the only unit in the Nantahala District to achieve the Gold Level in the 2011 program year.
BSA Nantahala District serves Cherokee, Clay, Graham and Swain Counties.
Chip Harper was nominated for the award by American Legion Post 532 located in Hayesville, NC.
The American Legion actively supports scouting programs for boys and girls in their communities.
We operate a year round program and your son is welcome to join Cub Scouts at anytime.
Please feel free to contact the cubmaster with any questions.
We are looking for donations of new or "slightly used" Cub Scout uniforms. They will be loaned out to Cub Scout families, as part of our "Cub Scout Uniform Scholarship Program".
Total amount raised last year was $99.40 Total this year is $43.50
PACK 407 has earned the GOLD LEVEL Journey To Excellence rating
for its quality program during 2011.
We were the only unit in the Nantahala District to earn this level.
PACK 407 has also earned the NATIONAL SUMMERTIME PACK AWARD for 2011.

Webelos Woods
Here is the information package from the Daniel Boone Council.
Webelos Woods runs August 3rd to August 5th.
We will sign up this event as a unit.
The final date for signup will be the May 1st Pack Meeting.
We are collecting soda cans as part of our fund raising activities.
This program raises money for our Cub Scouts and helps protect our environment.
Please drop off your donation of aluminum cans at a Pack or Den Meeting,
OR give me a phone call to arrange to have them picked up.

Parents Orientation Guide
How much does it cost to join?
$28.20 a year.- This includes the BSA membership and his subscription to Boys' Life magazine.
Which Den will my son be in?
First grade is a Tiger Cub
Second grade is a Wolf Cub Scout
Third grade is a Bear Cub Scout
Fourth grade is a Webelos I Scout
Fifth grade is a Webelos II Scout
Monthly Meeting Schedule
All meetings begin at 6:00pm and usually end at 7:00pm. A parent or guardian is expected to remain with their Scout during the entire meeting.
September to May, meetings at the Hayesville First United Methodist Church:
1st Tuesday of the Month is our "Pack Meeting". Everyone attends this once a month.
2nd Tuesday of the Month is our "Den Meeting" for Tiger Cubs (first grade) and Bear Cub Scouts (third grade).
2nd Thursday of the Month is our "Den Meeting" for Wolf Cub Scouts (second grade) and Webelos Scouts (fourth and fifth grades).
3rd Tuesday of the Month is our "Den Meeting" for Tiger Cubs (first grade) and Bear Cub Scouts (third grade).
3rd Thursday of the Month is our "Den Meeting" for Wolf Cub Scouts (second grade) and Webelos Scouts (fourth and fifth grades).
June to August, meetings at the Clay County Recreational Park:
1st Saturday of the Month at 9:00am will usually be our "Pack Meeting".
Other events as scheduled.

From September to May, we meet at the Hayesville First United Methodist Church at 989 Hwy 64 W in Hayesville.
From June to August, we meet at the Clay Conty Recreational Park.
